ESTER Biotech is developing a new generation of PET recycling. Originating from Leipzig University, the company uses enzymes to break down PET that has traditionally been difficult to recycle into its basic building blocks. These are purified and processed into virgin-quality PET, for example for automotive components – enabling closed material loops instead of relying on new fossil resources.
